Each year PIES Education and Outreach Program offers two workshops for Teachers as well as opportunities for field trips.

Our workshops aim to provide teachers with the tools they need to incorporate coastal wetlands units in their science curriculum.

We provide a wealth of tangible resources such as original lesson plans and visual images (maps and slide shows), and point the educators to other resources in the community that may help meet their needs.

Educators are anxious to gain a deeper understanding of our coastal zone, especially following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Our future plans include an Educators' Resource Center at UNO where educators may visit to do research, collect available resources and attend workshops and meetings.
